Life is a highway...

So do you want to know why this car is our main car at the moment?




Our vans breaks are doing something weird, so Jim called the mechanic and scheduled an appointment for his next day off.

No big deal. We'll use our Buick until then.

So- yesterday It's raining and miserable out and I have to go and get my arm checked for the second half of my TB testing. Simple, you walk in show them your arm and you go on your merry way.

You know life is never that simple for me right???

So I'm at the Occupational Heath building and ready to turn into their parking lot. I'm sitting there waiting for the oncoming cars to pass so I can make the turn and the next thing I know I hear tires locking up and BAM.

Some lady just plowed right into the back of my car.

I'm not really too concerned about it. It's our old car and accidents happen and really, our car was not as bad off as her car was. However, I was very pleased to find out that the insurance company was able to get it in that day to be fixed.

What I'm not happy about is that we went from having two big cars that the whole family could ride in- to having just an economy size mini car as a rental in the mean time.

With Lilly's booster seat in the back you can not fit three kids back there. Heck the two of them barely fit back there.

So yeah, it figures that this would all happen the week we are waiting on the van to get in the shop. Chaos follows us where ever we go.

A concert, A hike, and some big news!

Abby had County Orchestra this past weekend. She received the music a while back and has been practicing for it. Then on Sat- the kids all get together at 9 am on a Sat morning and go over the two songs and perform for their parents at 2:30. (or in Abby's case, her entourage- she had 11 people come to see her play! )

Anyway, she these bunch of 6th graders did an awesome job- and we are amazed at how every time we see them perform they just keep getting better and better.


Sunday was so beautiful outside we decided to take the kids to see the Pagoda. We've seen it from afar lit up at night. They just finished renovations on it and we thought we'd go check it out. So we loaded up the pooch and took a little hike through Mt. Penn.

Monday was busy, busy day for me. I had tax appointment booked from 9 am to 7 throughout the day and while I was in my appointments I was working my way through entering a 63 page 1099- B (which is a very, very long brokerage statement)

So as I was weeding through this mess of numbers and figuring out what needed to go where on the forms I got a call on my cell phone from home.

Jim had talked to the HR person at the hosptial and I could tell from the moment he said Hello that he knew something Good. To make a long story short, I was offered a position as a Level 3 Secretary at Reading Hosptial for the Care management Unit.

I have been to three rounds of interviews for this job. I have been waiting about 2 weeks on pins and needles waiting to hear what is going on and wondering if this was it. And it is.

I start my new position on April 13- which means I will have to cut tax season a little short this year (which my boss is not too thrilled about I'm sure) However, I can't turn an opportunity like this down. The hospital is very hard to get into at the administration level and I doubt I would have the opportunity if it were not for a good friend of ours referring me for the position and a whole lot of praying from a lot of people. The timing is awesome and all the worries of me being unemployed in three weeks are gone.

So today I'm going for my blood testing as well as a Heb B and TB test. I'm waiting on my FBI clearence and then I'm good to go.

Entering through the wardrobe....

Narnia is one of our favorite movies. We read The lion the witch and the wordrobe together. When we heard this was coming to the Franklin institute, we knew we had to take her there. We've owed her a date day for a while and so we got the clearence to take her out of school so she could enjoy the exhibit on a monday when there were a lot less crowds. Little did we know....

I'll start at the begining.

We purchased the tickets online like we always do. They asked do you want to purchase ticket insurance? After being charged almost $15 in their fees already there was no way I was going to pay another $18 for insurance. After all we had plans, what could go wrong? (can you tell where this is going???)

Anyway. Sunday night, the night before we are supposed to go- Philidelphia declares a state of emergency due to a Noeaster that is headed up the coast. We're thinking that heading into the city during rush hour the next morning is probably not such a great idea.

So we break the news to Lilly that we are going to have to postpone her date day. School was cancelled, we can't leave her brother and sister home alone all day.

Then I went to ticket master to push the date of our tickets back. They remind me that we didn't purchase insurance on the tickets and since the Franklin was opening late and not closed for the day they would not and could not change our tickets for us.

It was pretty frustrating, but it all worked out. We got a sitter for the kids, and we headed down to Philly. We were the only ones there- we got to walk through Narnia by ourselves. We saw a planetarium show. She got to do every exhibit in the museum with no waiting, no sharing.
