So, Jim is in the really extensive training session. He's bringing home all his stuff to practice with and get ready for when he's out on the road.
A word of advice. Don't make reference to the Jim Carrey Movie- Cable Man. I've never seen it but apparently it is not giving the world an accurate image of what a cable man really is all about. They are not all freakish and well, creapy.
So instead of being The Cable Man- I've labeled him "comcastic-daddio" And how cool is for the "comcastic-kiddos" They going to have bragging rights at school that they're dad can climb the big poles and play with really cool tools the light up and beep (Abby might be phasing out those bragging rights soon- as she is getting to the age where even parents with the coolest Jobs are totally embarassing. Knowing that stage is coming- I had to bring out the camera b/c one day I will remind her that she at one time thought her Dad was cool. She will deny it and I will have pixal proof to show her. :)

So, today is Comcastic-Daddio's first tool training day. Today they are going fishing. I'm told it's not with bait and poles- but fishing for lines in the wall. He has to travel places that are make him have to visit to the gas pump two or three times a week. But that's OK. The end is going to justify the means- or so I'm told- and we will not have to sell the first born to pay for filling up. Soon he will have a company van with a gas card that we do not have to pay. So Abby is safe- for now.
Anyway. Yesterday he recieved all his new tools and he was getting them ready to take with him. Lilly is five and you know the funny thing about 5 year olds is that not only is Comcastic Daddio the coolest daddy around- he is her hero. And so- yesterday we should not have been surprised to see her grabbing her *pretend* tools and try and climb that imaginary telephone pole in our living room- and then go around and fix stuff just like her dad.

And now the only remaining question is this. Why are there no adorable shots of the boy playing with Daddy's new stuff? Simple. This letter explains it all.
Dear Comcast:
I just wanted to thank you for giving my husband and I
some of the best parental blocking tools out there. We feel much safer
knowing
that we can block annoying shows like SpongeBob Squarepants with the
click of
the remote. We have you to thank entirely for our sanity. If we had
to hear
another annoying whine from Bikini Bottom I think we would have had
to book a
suite at the Nut Hut for an extended visit.
However, what
we were not
expecting was the latest upgrade. You see we have a sneaky first
grader who got
himself into trouble at school. I know you will understand
why we had to ban him
from TV watching for the day- It was not about your
programing- we were just
trying to be good parents and help reinforce good
behavior.
So, the boy
thinks, *I'm gonna be sneaky- if I'm quiet
they'll never find out*. So he snuck
into our bedroom and watched Ben 10. I
would have never known, as I was busy
making dinner and he would have gotten
away with it. However, the ability to see
what has been viewed on all TV's
in the house has given me a new spy. The look
on my son's face when he
realized he was busted was priceless.
And so
I'm sure you will
understand why he will not be watching TV for the rest of the
week and was
sent to bed early and missed watching the Monkees with the rest of
the
family.
Sincerely,
Me
